Daddy Where Are We Going 2 – an OGO perspective
For our team at OGO it was doubly exciting as not only were we being included in the famous TV show Daddy Where Are We Going 2, our Site Manger Kelly Hemana and his family hosted Huang Lei and daughter Duo Duo while they were in Rotorua on Pure Cruise.
The whole process was really interesting for us and unlike any TV show we’d ever hosted before. They came with a crew of about 200 in total and must have visited us 10 times before actual filming took place to ensure that they were capturing the footage that they wanted. The normal size of a film crew for us is about 5-20 maximum, so this was quite amazing.
I think it was quite hard for us to comprehend how famous the show is, so it was interesting to have security at our front gate and fans trying to sneak into OGO to catch a glimpse of the stars! And three of them actually made it in.
While at OGO Huang Lei, Duo Duo, Kelly and his daughter Saraya did a number of challenges, one that didn’t make it to TV was them having to race each other up our 250m Straight OGO Track, they were all tired by the time they got to the top! Then they each raced down the H2OGO Straight Track, Huang Lei and Duo Duo won the race.
The next challenge was on the world’s longest sidewinder track where the girls had to try and get a super hero costume on while they were slipping and sliding downhill. Duo Duo loved riding inside the OGO, and wanted to go again and again so we managed to sneak in a few extra rides for the kids before they had to leave to do more filming.
It was really cute to see how well Duo Duo and Saraya got on as friends – there was no language barrier, just kids being kids and having fun.
We’ve already seen the results of having the TV show go to air in China with an automatic overnight increase in Chinese visitors from Auckland and the inbound operators have been seeking more product information from us to answer the large number of enquiries from China.
What is most entertaining for us is that Kelly our site manager has become an onsite celebrity with all our Chinese visitors wanting their photo taken with him.
