ZORB Rotorua is one of the best rainy day activities in Rotorua! You’re already getting wet, and the rain just adds to the fun. Slicker tracks make for a different kind of ride with new thrills and new ways to experience each of our four tracks! We also have hot tubs at the top AND bottom of the hill so that you can stay nice and warm in between your rides.
While you are drifting around the slick corners of our four legendary tracks, your whānau can stay completely dry on our covered and heated outdoor viewing platform. It is the perfect spot for them to capture your slippery finish in total comfort before you join them to warm up in the onsite saunas and hot tubs.

- Slicker tracks, faster rides: Rain is a secret speed boost! Wet weather makes the grass slicker and changes the experience entirely!
- 40L of warm water: You’re already getting wet, so we make sure it’s comfortable. Every ZORB ride is filled with 40 litres of fresh, warm water on rainy days!
- Cost between laps: Stay toasty with hot tubs at the top AND bottom of the hill, plus a sauna, heated changing rooms, and a covered viewing area.
- All-weather reliability: We operate in almost all conditions. Only lightning or extreme winds pause the fun, so you can count on us when other activities are rained out!
What to Expect When it Rains at ZORB
Warm Water & Cosy Vibes:
Every ZORB ride is filled with 40 litres of fresh water. The water is heated on cool, rainy days ensuring you stay comfortable no matter the weather.
On top of that, there are hot tubs at the top AND bottom of the hill and a sauna at the waiting area to make sure you’re never cold.
Epic All-Weather Tracks:
- Dual Straight: Races against your friends and family are even faster with slick grass. Serious speed and serious fun!
- Sidewinder: Drift around the corners of Sidewinder as the twists and turns get extra slippery (in a good way)!
- Pipeline: Experience the arboreal tunnel of Pipeline in an entirely different way. Pipeline starts with short, exciting corners and ends with a straightaway half-pipe finish!

Rainy-DAY ZORB FAQs
Is ZORB a good rainy day activity for kids?
ZORB is a family-friendly adventure and rainy days are no exception. As long as children meet our minimum age and height requirements, they can ride with warm water, on supervised tracks, and with access to warm changing rooms and hot tubs.
Do I need to worry about my dry clothes getting wet in the rain?
Not at all! We provide dry storage for all your valuables and clothes while you’re on the hill. Plus, with our heated changing rooms and hairdryers, you’ll be warm and dry before you even get back to your car.
Will I get cold?
With warm water in the ZORBs, hot tubs at the top and bottom of each ride, a heated van, and a sauna in the main waiting area, you’d have to really try to get cold.
Is the water in the ZORBs warm on rainy days?
Yep! We ensure that the rides are comfortable so that you can enjoy all of the fun without feeling the cold.
What if the weather gets extreme?
We pride ourselves on providing thrills and excitement in a safe environment. We’ll let you know if the weather gets too extreme for us to operate safely. The only weather conditions that affect operations are high winds and lightning.
Are there discounts for Rotorua residents?
Yes! Rotorua locals can receive a 50% discount on rides with valid proof of address. Bring the kids and whanau with you on a rainy day and enjoy something different than a puzzle in the lounge!
