What we do
Superman dive into a giant inflatable ball with water and roll down Mt Ngongotaha with ZORB, where the fun will have you laughing uncontrollably.

The experience of rolling down a hill inside a ZORB has been an iconic adventure experience since Andrew and David Akers invented the first operation in the world here, back in 1997.

We are only a 7 minute drive from central Rotorua, ZORB Rotorua is a great all-weather activity for people of all ages (over 5) and abilities.

Ride Restrictions

The rides at ZORB are potentially hazardous activities which should only be attempted by physically fit people who are within our rider limits.

The rides at ZORB are not suitable to be ridden by persons with any form of health or medical conditions that could be made worse by the risks associated with acceleration, side to side motion, sliding and jumping. It is up to you to discuss any special requirements that you may have, our team are here to help you.

If you are:

  • Pregnant
  • Under 5 years of age
  • Over the weight limit of 135kg for an individual
  • Under the influence of drugs or alcohol

We are sorry, we cannot let you ride.

However, if you have any of the following conditions you may still be allowed to ride with some restrictions:

  • Previous dislocations
  • High Blood Pressure
  • Heart Condition
  • Epilepsy
  • Back, neck or previous head injuries
  • Lack of full body mobility or any other mental/physical condition
  • Recent surgeries, open wounds & skin conditions
  • All Riders must be 5 years of age and over.
  • Maximum weight per person is 135KG or 297lb

Risk Disclosure Form

Prior to, or upon arrival at ZORB Rotorua, Participants will be asked to thoroughly read and then sign a Risk Disclosure Form that outlines the Risks Associated with participating in ZORB Rotorua. Unless the Risk Disclosure Form is duly completed and signed, Participants will not be permitted to participate in the ZORB experience.

 

Quality Assurance

ZORB is Worksafe and Adventure Activity Safety audit certified. ZORB has been a certified adventure operator since the register began in November 2014 as the first ball rolling operator to be registered. It’s ethically and legally mandatory that responsible adventure tourism operators have robust safety systems in place. It is our guarantee that we will keep leading the ball rolling industry in customer care and safety.

If the operation is assessed by the auditor as being at, or above, the benchmark standards of the Qualworx certification scheme, Skills Active grants Qualworx certification.

Discover four different ball rolling tracks at ZORB Rotorua. With 40 litres of water and no tumbling involved, there is definitely something for all ages and abilities to enjoy.

Try one or try them all! You’ll be guaranteed slippery, screaming goodness with a dash of side-splitting laughter. The secret ingredient? We add 40 litres of water (warm in winter, cool in summer) for your ball rolling pleasure. With three different tracks, we have something for all ages and abilities to revel in.

Don’t let the cold weather rain on your parade. We’ve got three hot tubs to keep toasty in between your rides, as well as a brand spanking new warm room at the bottom of the hill, heated changing room with hairdryers and even blankets!

MEGA

  • 300 metres
  • Steepest, fastest and craziest!
  • Epic views of Lake Rotorua and Mokoia Island

The fastest and steepest downhill ball rolling track in all the land! Perched high up on the edge of the ultimate drop, feel the earth disappear beneath you as you plummet down the craziest ZORB track ever invented. If the epic view doesn’t take your breath away, the sheer scale will have you gasping.

SIDEWINDER

  • 350 metres
  • 6 massive twists + turns
  • The longest ZORB track in the world

The twistiest track ever constructed, the Sidewinder is the longest in the world. Gather speed up on the straightaway before riding up the sides of the 6 massive corners. From the inside, you’ll never know what is coming next, and when you think you’re done… the corners keep on coming!

DUAL STRAIGHT

  • 250 metres
  • Smooth and fast
  • Designed for racing

Superman dive into a ZORB ball and slip, slide, and laugh your way down the 250m long slope! Riders have the option of racing their friends and family down our dual tracks, and if you have the skills, try to stay upright and run all the way down the hill (for the extra competitive).

PIPELINE

  • 320 metres
  • Big turns, fast straights
  • Roll through an arboreal tunnel

The PIPELINE is our newest track at ZORB Rotorua. This track is out-the-gate fun and offers a bit of everything: a wiggle and a weave to start, a dash through an arboreal tunnel, and a sweeping half pipe finish! The PIPELINE combines big turns and fast straights with the signature excitement ZORB is known for!
