Frequently Asked Questions

What is downhill ball rolling?

  • Downhill ball rolling is where you ride in a giant inflatable ball on purpose-built tracks. It’s one of New Zealand’s most iconic adventure activities, an original invention, and home to the original ZORB site.

Where is ZORB Rotorua located?

Do I need to book in advance?

  • Booking ahead is recommended, especially during weekends, school holidays, and summer, but it is not required. Pre-booking helps you secure your preferred time and ride package. You are welcome to rock up when you want to ride — we just can’t guarantee your spot!

Can kids ride in the ZORB balls?

  • Yes! Kids can ride alone or with their friends, parents, siblings, or others, as long as they are 5 years of age or older.

Are there weight or height limits for ZORB?

  • There is no height limit for ZORB, but there is a weight limit of 135 kg per rider. If you are between 125 kg and 135 kg, you will need to ride on your own. We can have a maximum of 250 kg per ZORB ball.

What should I wear for ZORB?

  • We recommend bringing your swimmers and a towel for your ZORB rides. We do have rental shirts, shorts, and towels available for $5 each, or $12 for all three. You’ll also want to bring a change of clothes for after your rides so you stay comfortable.

How long does it take?

  • That depends on your package and how busy we are, but we typically recommend allowing 60–90 minutes for the full experience. This gives you time for check-in, getting changed, transport to the top, and soaks in the hot tub between rides.

IS ZORB Rotorua suitable for groups?

  • Yes. ZORB Rotorua is great for families, friends, school groups, corporate groups and special occasions. Please contact info@zorb.com for group bookings and event enquiries.

Does ZORB operate in the rain?

  • The only things that slow our roll are high winds or lightning. Other than that, ZORB operates rain or shine, 364 days a year, and is closed only on Christmas Day.
